An independent dashboard that turns Ghana’s public data into clear, interactive visuals across all section
02
Data To Decisions
Turn Ghana’s public data into actionable decisions—standardized, transparent, and interactive.
03
See Ghana Clearly
See Ghana clearly with standardized, transparent, interactive data that turns numbers into decisions.
DataTalkGH aggregates public datasets about Ghana and presents them as interactive charts and tables. We clean, transform, and standardize indicators so they’re easier to compare across time and sources. This page explains where the data come from, how we transform them, and the limits you should keep in mind.
Primary Sources (non-exhaustive)
Ghana Statistical Service (GSS)
Ministry of Finance (MoF)
Bank of Ghana (BoG)
World Bank (WDI)
Ministry of Health (MoH)
Ministry of Education (MoE)
Ministry of Energy (MoE)
Electoral Commission (EC)
Wikipedia
International Monetary Fund (IMF)
World Health Organization (WHO)
Additional datasets may be used periodically. Each chart includes a short source note; the complete source list and URLs are maintained in the Data Sources table below.
How We Transform Data (Methods)
Standardization: Normalize indicator names to a consistent, human-readable schema (e.g.,
who_life_expectancy_birth_years
).De-duplication: Where multiple releases exist for the same year/indicator, we retain the latest non-null observation.
Currency & Units: Convert currencies and units where needed and label the result (e.g., GHS current, constant prices, per-capita).
Inflation Adjustment: When noted, CPI is used to create constant-price series with an explicit base year.
Per-Capita Calculations: Use the latest available population series for denominators.
Rebasing & Revisions: When official rebasing occurs, legacy series may be recast for comparability; version notes are recorded.
Quality Checks: Spot checks for outliers, sign flips, monotonic series where expected, and year-over-year deltas.
Accuracy, Timeliness & Comparability
Revisions Happen: Providers routinely revise prior years; our figures may lag or lead official sites depending on the release cycle.
Method Changes: Different sources may define indicators differently; always check per-chart notes before comparing across sources.
Rounding: Totals may not equal component sums due to rounding.
Forecasts vs. Actuals: Any projections are model-based estimates and will differ from realized outcomes.

Technical Notes (for Hiring Managers)
Stack: Python (pandas), Apache Airflow (ETL), Azure Database for PostgreSQL, WordPress (wpDataTables), Power BI/Embedding (where applicable).
DataOps: automated ingestion, schema-mapped indicators, reproducible transforms, versioned outputs (wide CSV + meta lineage).
Governance: source tagging, last-updated stamps, and per-chart source lines generated from metadata.
Purpose & Scope

Methods (What We Do)
- Standardization: consistent indicator naming & schema.
- De-duplication: keep latest non-null observation per year/indicator.
- Currency & Units: explicit labeling (GHS current/constant, per-capita).
- Inflation: CPI adjustments with stated base year, when applicable.
- Per-Capita: latest population series as denominator.
- Revisions: record rebasing and version notes.
- Quality checks: outlier & YoY reasonableness tests.
